Objective
Hydrosome Labs contracted with TRI Princeton to show improved skin penetration of Everwhite (Vitamin C) in a formulation of 3% Everwhite + a Skin Care Formula using Ultra Pure Water compared to 3% Everwhite + a Skin Care Formula using Hydrosome Water.
Topical vitamin C in skincare is an antioxidant that can help slow early skin aging, prevent sun damage, and improve the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, and acne.
Design
In this study, 3% Everwhite was added to a Skin Care Formula of Water*, MCT oil, Polyaquol 2W, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Symdiol 68, Hydrolite 5 Green.
Formula 1 uses Ultra Pure Water in the Skin Care Formulation.
Formula 2 uses Hydrosome Water in the Skin Care Formulation.
The two were then introduced to human skin tissue in a Frans Cell system and were allowed to penetrate for 2 hours. Confocal Raman Spectroscopy was used to measure the depth of penetration of the Everwhite (Vitamin C).
Results
The results of this study showed that Vitamin C penetrated significantly deeper in the formula made with Hydrosome Water (through stratum corneum and into the epidermis).
