Improved Delivery and Stability in Vitamin C Formulation

Objective
In this study, Hydrosome Labs contracted with TRI Princeton to investigate improved delivery of Everwhite (Vitamin C) when formulated with Hydrosome H2O. Topical Vitamin C in skincare is an antioxidant that can help slow early skin aging, prevent sun damage, and improve the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, and acne.
Design

Two skin care formulas were created using either deionized water or Hydrosome H2O with a 3% concentration of Everwhite (Vitamin C). The two formulations were applied to human skin tissue in a Franz Cell system for 2 hours. Confocal Raman Spectroscopy was used to measure the depth of delivery of the Everwhite (Vitamin C) and its potency throughout the skin.

Results

The Vitamin C formulation delivers deeper into the skin when made with Hydrosome H2O. Moreover, the formulation maintains its potency on both the skin’s surface and top layer more effectively when utilizing Hydrosome H2O.
