Improved Niacinamide Delivery

Objective
In this study, Hydrosome Labs contracted with TRI Princeton to investigate improved delivery of niacinamide when formulated with Hydrosome H2O. Niacinamide is a common skincare active ingredient used to improve skin resiliency and texture.
Design
Two skin care formulas were created using either deionized water or Hydrosome H2O with a 3% concentration of niacinamide. The two were then introduced to human skin tissue in a Franz Cell system and were allowed to deliver for 2 hours. Confocal Raman Spectroscopy was used to measure the depth of delivery of the niacinamide.
Results

The results of this study showed that Niacinamide permeated significantly deeper into the skin with the formula containing Hydrosome H2O compared to the deionized water formultation.
