Enhanced Cannabis Yields with 50% Fertilizer Reduction

Objective

In this study, Hydrosome Labs partnered with a licensed cannabis grower to determine if Hydrosome H2O can increase cannabinoid and terpene levels when combined with timed fertilizer adjustments.

Design

Cannabis sativa plants were propagated under two treatment conditions. The control treatment grew the plants traditionally with 100% of the recommended fertilizer in deionized (DI) water. The test treatment grew plants with 50% of the recommended fertilizer in Hydrosome H2O until 4 weeks into fruiting, at which time, fertilizer rates were increased to 100% for the duration of the study. Results were interpreted after 140 days.

Results

The Hydrosome treatment showed average increases in THC and terpene levels of 11% and 56%, in comparison with the control treatment (deionized water), even with the reduction of fertilizer used for the Hydrosome treatment during the first four weeks.
